About Don
Mr. Garlikov is the Chairman and Co-Founder of THE GARLIKOV COMPANIES. Before becoming an entrepreneur by establishing GARLIKOV & ASSOCIATES, INC. in 1978, he began his career in Corporate Finance for several Fortune 500 companies. It was as Controller for Borden Chemical that he and his family relocated to Columbus upon Borden relocating their corporate headquarters there. Appreciative of the early success he had achieved and recognizing that it is better to give than receive, he and his wife became involved in local and global philanthropies. Choosing to remain in the Midwest, he subsequently joined a local insurance agency in a financial capacity where he discovered that life insurance could be more than a protection product. Rather, he discovered life insurance is essentially a liquidity vehicle that can add value for families, business entities and philanthropists.
In addition to his support and involvement in many important civic organizations, Don is a past recipient of the local Young Leadership Award and was appointed to the National Young Men’s Leadership cabinet of The Jewish Federation as well as having been recognized by national UJA for his efforts on behalf of The Columbus Jewish Foundation, of which he was later President. Don has served on a wide variety of local and national civic boards including the Columbus Museum of Art, several secular areligious and secular school boards, and Jewish Family Services. Other leadership positions for which he has been recognized include United Way de Tocqueville Society, Israel Bonds, AIPAC, and Project Interchange. Don is a past advisory board member of the Entrepreneurship Center of the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University and of M Financial Group.
In addition to GARLIKOV & ASSOCIATES, INC., Don founded GARLIKOV ADVISORS, INC. both of which are headquartered in Columbus with a national and global presence.
Mr. Garlikov holds a B.S. from The Ohio State University and received his MBA from the University of Dayton. He is married and the father of two.
